Members of the Bennett lab sampling plants from an oilseed rape cross-drilling trial, near Helmsley, North Yorkshire.
We are very strongly interested in understanding the implications of our research for the agricultural sector. We work with farmers, agronomists and industrial partners to understand the relevance of our findings under field conditions.
Current projects include:
- Understanding the impact of plant spacing on oilseed rape establishment and growth through cross-drilling field trials.
- Understanding how stem diameter can be used to predict the growth and yield of oilseed rape months before harvest.
- Understanding how deeper rooting can be encouraged in winter wheat to increase yield and increase resilience against drought.
