Downstream signalling events in the SL and KL pathways

PIN7-GFP abundance in roots of wild-type and kai2 mutants

The close relationship between the strigolactone (SL) and KAI2-ligand (KL) signalling pathways suggests raises intriguing questions about the specificity of the pathways. Are the signalling pathways completely distinct? Or is there cross-regulation between the pathways? We are particularly interested in understanding whether the pathways have distinct downstream outputs, or whether the pathways converge on the same downstream targets. Our data suggests that indeed, both pathways regulate the properties of the auxin transport system. However, there are also likely to be separate targets of each pathway too.
